When you “Leave a Legacy,” you’re enriching the lives of other people and supporting and sustaining charitable work for future generations.

Including a charitable gift in your will is a simple way to make a lasting gift to Misericordia and your community. You can leave a gift to Misericordia by adding to an existing will or drafting a new one. Make a gift of a stated dollar amount, specific property, a percentage of your estate, or the remainder after distributions to other beneficiaries. In doing so you leave a legacy to Misericorida and your community, yet preserve and enjoy assets you might need during your lifetime. Plus, leaving a gift to Misericordia serves to avoid PA inheritance tax after you pass. And it will not affect your financial stability.
For more information about how your charitable gift can benefit Misericordia, please contact Jill Hartman, Advancement Director at 717.755.1964. We also recommend that you consult with your tax adviser or planning professional.
Including Misericordia as a beneficiary of your estate is a simple process. To ease the process for you, we crafted the following language so that it can be sent directly to your attorney for inclusion in your will.
“I give and bequeath _____ percent of my residuary estate, after all payments of all debts, claims, expenses and taxes, to Misericordia Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, 998 S. Russell Street, York, PA 17402, a not-for-profit organization, organized and existing under the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, as an unrestricted gift for its general purposes.”
