Rehabilitation

Overcoming Barriers & Limitations

Whether you are here as a short-term or long term care resident, Misericordia Nursing & Rehabilitation Center provides a full range of high quality rehabilitation therapy in partnership with Encore Rehabilitation Services.

All of the rehabilitation programs we offer are carefully designed to assist patients in regaining their optimal functionality and independence.

Physical Therapy

Physical therapists provide therapy to patients who have experienced:

  • neuromuscular
  • orthopedic, and/or
  • musculo-skeletal dysfunctions.

The professionally trained and licensed therapists promote functional training, wellness, maintenance of good health and proper body mechanics for each patient. We utilize state-of-the-art equipment and therapy modalities in applying general scientific principles to prevent, identify, correct or compensate for specific dysfunctions as well to regain strength after general decline.

Occupational Therapy

Our occupational therapists assist those in recovery from stroke, arthritis, orthopedic conditions such as hip fractures and joint replacements, Multiple Scleroris, Parkinson’s Disease as well as loss of ability caused by hospitalization, aging, or injury.

Our therapists employ goal-directed techniques during evaluation and treatment including therapeutic procedures designed to increase a patient’s independence with activities of daily living (ADL’s).

Occupational therapists are unique in their ability to creatively adapt the environment to meet the individual’s needs.

Speech-Language Therapy

Speech-language pathologists are professionally trained to diagnose and treat communicative disorders. A treatment plan may address managing swallowing deficits, developing problem solving abilities, and improving speech and language skills.

A careful history of medical conditions and symptoms is taken and the strength and movement of the muscles involved in swallowing is measured.  The feeding process is observed to determine posture, behavior, and oral movements during eating and drinking.

Together, our goal is to provide each resident with the opportunity to overcome barriers and re-master lost functional skills due to limitations caused by illness or age to help them live each day with dignity.
